The current official flag of the Republic of Congo was most
recently adopted in June of 1991, however the design was originally established
in August of 1959. This flag features the pan-African colors. A diagonal
yellow stripe separates the green upper hoist side, from the red fly end.
Traditionally, green represents peace and nature, while red stands for
independence. Yellow represents hope and the natural wealth of the nation.
