The current Israel(Zion)flag we see today was first designed and used in Basel, Switzerland in 1897 by David Wolfson.
The flag has two light blue stripes one on top and one on bottom, on a white background to symbolize the tallit, the Jewish prayer shawl.
The Star of David, a Jewish symbol since the 17th century is in blue in the center of the flag.
